Busan Port Authority Steps Up to Strengthen AI Capabilities of Vulnerable Youth
Operating the "BPA AI Dream School" with Green Umbrella
Bridging the Digital Divide and Supporting the Development of Future Talent
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sangkeun) conducted the "BPA AI Dream School" education program on the 23rd in collaboration with Green Umbrella (Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters Director Lee Sugyeong) to support the enhancement of artificial intelligence digital capabilities among local youth.
The "BPA AI Dream School" is a social contribution program designed to help children and adolescents from vulnerable groups in the region, who have relatively fewer opportunities for digital education, proactively respond to the future society amid the rapid expansion of AI technology in the era of hyper-connectivity.
In this program, AI experts first provided training focused on personal information protection and proper use of AI, ensuring that children can utilize AI technology safely. Additionally, BPA will support subscription fees for paid AI services through the first half of next year, enabling participating children to continuously experience and learn the latest AI technologies.
Furthermore, BPA plans to hold a contest in the future to assess the educational outcomes, such as the improvement of children's AI utilization skills, and will consider additional support based on these results. This is a practical investment in education that goes beyond simple experience, aiming to bridge the digital divide and empower children to pursue self-directed learning and creative growth.
Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority, stated, "AI technology is an essential competency for living in the future society," and added, "I hope this program will serve as an opportunity for youth and young adults to discover their potential and take a step forward in their growth." He continued, "We will continue to promote social contribution activities for nurturing future talent in cooperation with the local community."
