View original imageOn December 22, Jeollanam-do Province announced that it will operate the "12·29 Passenger Plane Disaster First Anniversary Joint Memorial Altar for Victims" for eight days until the 29th, marking the first anniversary of the December 29 Jeju Air passenger plane disaster.
The joint memorial altar, set up on the first floor of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Government building, will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., allowing any resident to pay tribute to the victims with flowers and silent prayers. Jeollanam-do plans to have guides stationed at the altar at all times during the operation period.
An Sanghyeon, Director of the Provincial Safety Office of Jeollanam-do, stated, "This memorial altar is being operated to honor the victims on the first anniversary of the passenger plane disaster and to express solidarity with the bereaved families who lost loved ones and neighbors in the sudden accident, so that all residents can share in their grief."
The first anniversary memorial ceremony for the December 29 Muan Airport Jeju Air passenger plane disaster will be held at 10 a.m. on the 29th at Muan International Airport, organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Bereaved Families Association. Prior to the memorial ceremony, a memorial event for residents of Gwangju and Jeonnam, led by the Bereaved Families Association and civic groups, will take place at the 5·18 Democracy Plaza at 2 p.m. on the 27th.
