A Restful Space Embracing the Seomjin River: New Rest Area Completed on Haemajidari Bridge in Baealdo
Gwangyang City Completes Emotional Rest Area
at the Center of Haemajidari Bridge
On December 15, 2025, Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do, announced that it had completed the construction of a rest area for citizens and tourists at the circular section in the center of the Haemajidari Bridge, located in Baealdo Waterfront Park.
The rest area has been designed as a space where visitors can fully take in the flow and scenery of the Seomjin River. The city installed rest benches along the circular section, allowing people to pause on the bridge to contemplate and relax while gazing at the river. Additionally, canopies have been installed above the benches so that visitors can comfortably stay not only during the gentle sunlight but also during the heat of midday.
Once merely a passageway, Haemajidari Bridge has been transformed into a place of rest where people can appreciate the scenery of the Seomjin River and catch their breath. It is expected to provide citizens and tourists with a small space for respite in their daily lives.
A city official stated, "The significance of this new rest area lies in creating a space where visitors to Baealdo and the Seomjin River can naturally linger within the landscape," adding, "We will continue to enhance tourist spaces so that citizens and tourists can enjoy Gwangyang's nature more closely and comfortably."
