Hanam Gyosan New Town to Establish AI Innovation Cluster: 20,000 Jobs and 6 Trillion Won in Production Expected
A consortium consisting of PSC Artificial Intelligence Cluster (POSTECH, Carnegie Mellon University, National University of Singapore), KT Cloud Corp., and KT Investment Management Corp. has been selected as the leading (anchor) company for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Cluster in Hanam Gyosan New Town, Gyeonggi Province.
On December 17, Gyeonggi Province announced the selection results for the AI anchor company in Hanam Gyosan New Town, a project with a total budget of 3 trillion won, in the presence of Governor Kim Dongyeon, National Assembly member Choo Mi-ae, and others.
Governor Kim Dongyeon stated, "There have been many challenges along the way, but we have reached this point by revising regulations so that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the governor can have the authority to recommend companies." He added, "Gyeonggi Province is planning five major clusters by industry: semiconductors, advanced mobility, bio, AI, and cultural content."
He continued, "There is still much to do, including attracting anchor company headquarters," and emphasized, "We will proceed by reflecting the various opinions of Hanam residents."

The site will include core infrastructure such as the CMU&NUS (Carnegie Mellon University & National University of Singapore) Global Multi-Campus, the POSTECH AI+X Graduate School (an interdisciplinary graduate program combining AI with other fields), and a Supercomputing AI Center. In addition, a venture center for nurturing startups, an AI training center and cybersecurity center, a bio venture center, a Net Zero Digital Twin Center (which integrates digital technologies such as virtual replication to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions), and an advanced medical information center will be established. These facilities will be clustered together to create an innovative ecosystem where research, education, and industry are organically connected.
With the selection of the anchor company, Gyeonggi Province plans to accelerate the establishment of the Hanam Gyosan AI Innovation Cluster in cooperation with Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and the selected companies. By the end of December 2025, a land sales contract will be signed between LH and the selected companies, followed by detailed design and permitting procedures, with construction scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.
