First Anniversary Celebration Held for Youth Cafe 'Warak' Serving Ages 9 to 24
A Central Space for Rest, Study, and Cultural Activities
Geumsan County held a vibrant celebration on December 16 to mark the first anniversary of the youth cafe 'Warak,' a free cultural and communication space open to all young people aged 9 to 24.
This event was organized to express gratitude to the young people and parents who have used 'Warak' as a community hub over the past year, and to reaffirm the county's commitment to supporting healthy youth development through this space.
Located on the first floor of the Geumsan Darakwon Youth Center, 'Warak' carries the warm meaning of "Come and be warmly embraced" and "Rest (臥)·Enjoy (樂)." It is a dedicated, cafe-style space that any youth aged 9 to 24 can freely use.
In particular, with features such as Byeoldarak, board games, and a singing booth, the space has become a hotspot for local youth, serving not only as a place for rest and study, but also as a central venue for cultural activities.
The anniversary celebration featured a variety of programs, including pre-event performances in dance, singing, and sign language song, a progress report and activity video screening, a rice cake cutting ceremony, and a congratulatory band performance, all of which were met with enthusiastic responses from attendees.
Lee Mikyung, an official from the Family Policy Division, said, "I am delighted that over the past year, the youth cafe 'Warak' has become a valuable space for youth communication," adding, "We will continue to plan and support a variety of programs so that young people can take the lead and enjoy this space."
