The Yeosu Coast Guard Station in South Jeolla Province (Chief Kim Kiyong) announced that at around 3:47 a.m. on the 17th, it received a report that fishing vessel A (1.57 tons, 2 crew members), registered in Goheung, was taking on water about 1 nautical mile north of Jeokgeumdo, Hwajeong-myeon, Yeosu. The rescue operation was successfully completed.
The Yeho Patrol Station rescue boat, dispatched in response to the report, arrived at the accident site in about seven minutes. During the rescue operation, the team confirmed that the fishing vessel had capsized. The Coast Guard then immediately rescued both crew members who were drifting at sea.

The accident vessel was towed to a nearby port by a Marine Disaster Rescue Unit vessel, and all land-based salvage operations were completed. Based on the captain’s statement, the Coast Guard believes the accident occurred after the vessel struck a rock, which caused it to take on water.
