Gangneung City and Gangwon Tourism Foundation Promote Tourism in Kaohsiung, Taiwan... Gauging Overseas Market Response
Interest Grows in Gangneung's Culinary Experiences and Foreign Tourist Taxi Service
Gangneung City and the Gangwon Tourism Foundation opened a Gangneung tourism promotion booth for two days from the 13th to the 14th at the "2025 Kaohsiung K-POP & Gourmet Festival," hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization Taipei Office, focusing on introducing the city's brand and representative tourism content. This event was organized as a preliminary event to gauge overseas market reactions ahead of the Gangneung tourism pop-up store, which will be held in Japan in January next year.

An official Gangneung tourism social media subscription (SNS follow) event was also held. Participants browsed promotional materials featuring Gangneung's sea, coffee culture, and four-season tourism content, and then followed the official account on-site. During the event, visitors to the booth frequently asked about Gangneung's natural scenery, local cuisine, and festival schedules.
In particular, there was notable interest in the "Gangneung Foreign Tourist Taxi" service designed for international visitors. Local citizens responded positively to the convenience of traveling to major tourist attractions via taxis that offer multilingual support. Given the preference of Taiwanese tourists for independent travel, there were many inquiries about transportation convenience and customized tourism services.
Kaohsiung citizens perceived Gangneung as a travel destination that combines relaxation, gastronomy, and culture. Due to the nature of the event, questions about transportation, length of stay, and sightseeing routes were especially common among younger attendees and families.
The city and the foundation see significance in confirming the competitiveness of Gangneung's tourism content in southern Taiwan through this promotional activity. The combination of hands-on promotions and practical tourism information was well received on-site. These insights will also be used as reference material to further refine the operation of the pop-up store in Japan next January.
