Seongnam City Secures 12,055 Redevelopment Units as Bundang Pilot Districts Pass Urban Planning Committee Review
Seongnam City Receives Green Light for Special Maintenance Zone Designation
Designation and Official Announcement of Special Maintenance Zones to Be Completed Within the Year
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sangjin) announced on December 16 that it has secured 12,055 housing units for redevelopment this year through the Urban Planning Committee's review regarding the designation of special maintenance zones for the Bundang aging planned city pilot districts.
On December 15 at 2 p.m., Seongnam City convened the Urban Planning Committee and conditionally approved the special maintenance plans and the designation of special maintenance zones for the following areas: Bundang aging planned city 31·S4 (Saetbyeol Village, Dongseong, etc.), 32 (Yangji Village, Kumho, etc.), 23·S6 (Siheom Complex, Hyundai, etc.), and 6·S3 (Mokryeon Village, Daewon Villa, etc.).
The pilot districts that passed the review this time consist of 4 complexes across 7 zones, for which proposals for designation as special maintenance zones were submitted on November 14 and 17. Afterward, the city supplemented the special maintenance plans by incorporating feedback gathered through consultations with relevant agencies, public hearings with residents, opinions from the Seongnam City Council, and landscape reviews. The final step, the Urban Planning Committee review, was completed on December 15.
The city plans to promptly finalize and supplement the conditional approval items, proceed with the remaining administrative procedures without delay, and complete the designation and official announcement of the special maintenance zones within the year.
Previously, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced in September that if the special maintenance zones were not designated within the year, the allocation for pilot districts would be restricted from being carried over. In response, Seongnam City took preemptive action, strengthened administrative support for the swift progress of the project, and maintained ongoing communication with residents of the Bundang pilot districts.
