View original imageThis project is the 62nd initiative of the "HOPE with HUG Project," a social contribution program aimed at improving aging public facilities to realize welfare closely tied to daily life.
The project has been jointly promoted since 2016 by Busan Metropolitan City, the Busan International Architecture Festival Organizing Committee, and the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG).
Since its establishment in 2005, the Busan Station nursing room has faced persistent calls for improvement due to aging facilities and a lack of amenities. Busan Transportation Corporation cooperated throughout the project by providing the space, conducting preliminary reviews, and managing the construction site.
The remodeling was carried out through a public-private partnership: the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation donated 30 million won for the project, and Kim Heewon, CEO of Gamsung Plan and recipient of three of the world's top design awards, contributed design expertise as a talent donation.
The improved nursing room is now equipped with amenities for infant and toddler care, including a diaper changing table, a faucet, a baby bottle sterilizer, and a microwave. The nursing area has been created as an independent space with a sofa and curtains, further enhancing user privacy.
Busan Transportation Corporation expects that the remodeling will significantly improve the convenience for users of the Busan Station nursing room.
