This training, planned by the city’s Drone Industry Team and operated by the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Korea Aerospace University, was attended by over 100 public officials working on the administrative frontlines. The sessions were held at the Goyang Drone Anchor Center and the Goyang Daedeok Drone Airfield, among other locations.

The program was designed as a hands-on, practice-oriented curriculum to effectively integrate drones into administrative work. It was tailored so that city officials and employees of affiliated organizations could apply drone technology to their respective administrative sectors, resulting in high levels of participation.

The training course covered: ▲ basic drone theory ▲ flight procedures and relevant regulations ▲ piloting exercises using simulators and soccer drones ▲ equipment inspection ▲ flight and filming practice. All sessions focused on practical exercises using real-world equipment in administrative settings.

Through this training, public officials are expected to not only gain an understanding of drone technology but also acquire fundamental piloting and filming skills, as well as the ability to operate drones safely.

Meanwhile, starting in 2026, the city plans to launch a “practical application-focused competency enhancement program” that will enable public officials to directly apply drone technology to various administrative tasks, such as disaster prevention, environmental monitoring, and traffic management. The city aims to gradually raise the competency of its officials to the point where they can independently utilize drones, through customized training programs that reflect on-site needs.

A Goyang Special City official stated, “Drones have now become an essential tool, not a choice, in administrative work,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen the smart administrative capabilities of public officials to further expand drone-based smart administration.”
