Exploring Joseon's Geographic Records and Maps... National Daegu Museum Lecture on the 18th
Lecture by Professor Emeritus Bokyung Yang of Sungshin Women's University
The National Daegu Museum announced on December 11 that it will hold a special lecture titled "Joseon, the Land of Geographic Records" at 2:00 p.m. on December 18 in the museum auditorium, in conjunction with its ongoing special exhibition, "People and Land: Contained in Geographic Records." This lecture will explore the geographic records and maps of Joseon, known as the "land of geographic records," represented by works such as the Gyeongsangdo Jiriji (1425), Sejong Sillok Jiriji (1454), and Daedongyeojido (1861). Bokyung Yang, Professor Emeritus at Sungshin Women's University, will serve as the lecturer.

Professor Bokyung Yang previously served as a professor and president of the Department of Geography at Sungshin Women's University. She is currently Professor Emeritus at Sungshin Women's University and co-chair of the Map Forum. Her research has covered the history of Korean geography, Korean culture and historical geography, old maps and geographic records of the Joseon era, perceptions of nature and the Baekdudaegan mountain range in Korea, and HGIS (Historical Geographic Information Systems). Her major research achievements include over 100 academic papers and more than 60 books, such as "Joseon, the Land of Geographic Records," "The Nature and Geographic Perception of Eupji in the Joseon Dynasty," "Old Maps of Seoul" (co-authored), and "Landscape Changes in Seoul" (co-authored).
