Daejeon City to Conduct Special Inspections of 44 Nursing Hospitals for Winter Fire Prevention
From the 8th to the 19th...
Joint Inspections with District Offices and Fire Departments
Daejeon City will conduct a comprehensive inspection of all nursing hospitals to prevent risks associated with winter fires and to strengthen emergency response systems.
In particular, the city will focus on intensive inspections of fire safety at 44 nursing hospitals within Daejeon, making this its top priority.
This special inspection is a follow-up measure to the "Winter Fire Prevention Inspection Countermeasures Meeting," which was chaired by the Director of the National Crisis Management Center of the National Security Office on November 5. The purpose is to prevent risks at nursing hospitals vulnerable to fires and to strengthen emergency response systems.
Given the characteristics of nursing hospitals, where many patients have limited mobility, the inspection will focus on ensuring practical response capabilities. Key areas include: ▲ operational status of fire safety equipment such as automatic fire detection systems, sprinklers, and fire extinguishers; ▲ updates to evacuation routes and escape paths by ward and floor; ▲ establishment of response systems for nighttime and holidays; ▲ pre-designation and management of evacuation support personnel to assist patient evacuation during a fire; and ▲ maintenance of emergency contact systems.
Along with this inspection, Daejeon City plans to enhance fire response training for nursing hospitals and provide customized guidance tailored to each hospital's conditions to improve the effectiveness of safety management.

Han Jongtak, Director of Sports and Health at Daejeon City, stated, "Since nursing hospitals have many patients with limited mobility, there are concerns about mass casualties in the event of a fire. Through this intensive inspection, we will proactively prepare for disasters and establish an effective response system to create an environment where citizens can feel safe."
