Goyang City to Send Seizure Notices for Unpaid Environmental Improvement Charges in Second Half of 2025
A total of 2,894 cases and 1.26 billion won in arrears subject to seizure
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on December 10 that it will send seizure notices after seizing vehicles owned by those who are delinquent in paying the environmental improvement charges for the second half of 2025.
This round of notices covers 2,894 cases of unpaid environmental improvement charges for the second half of 2025, with a total amount in arrears of 1.26 billion won.
Once a vehicle is seized, the seizure is recorded in the vehicle registration record, making it impossible to transfer ownership, sell, or deregister the vehicle. The statute of limitations for collection rights (five years) is also suspended until the seizure is lifted.
For vehicles that are to be deregistered, substitute seizures will also be carried out to secure claims.
Payments can be made by visiting a nearby financial institution, using internet banking, a dedicated virtual account, internet giro, or the Wetax system.
For further inquiries, please contact the Climate and Energy Division of Goyang City Hall for detailed guidance.
