The hospital explained that since its promotion, it has significantly strengthened the region’s essential healthcare system by focusing on enhancing emergency and critical care capabilities, expanding specialized centers, and improving the quality of medical services.
In 2025, the hospital was selected by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as a “Comprehensive Secondary General Hospital,” further upgrading its emergency medical functions.
Recently, the hospital recruited two additional emergency medicine specialists, establishing a six-member medical team. It operates specialized intensive care teams in each field around the clock, ensuring immediate surgical response in cases of critical or emergency patients. Additionally, the hospital has advanced its collaborative system among specialized centers, such as the Laparoscopic Surgery Center, Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center, and Robotic Artificial Joint Surgery Center, laying the foundation for rapid diagnosis and treatment in time-sensitive emergencies such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and severe trauma.
The Laparoscopic Surgery Center, Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center, and Robotic Artificial Joint Surgery Center-recently established to strengthen disease-specific specialized care-have become key infrastructure in responding to the aging population and the rise in serious illnesses. The Laparoscopic Surgery Center has a collaborative system with the hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery department and the colorectal surgery department, enabling 24-hour surgical response. Through minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures, the center provides a wide range of treatments from acute abdominal diseases to complex cancer surgeries.
As a result, local residents can now receive advanced surgeries within the region without needing to travel to medical institutions in the Seoul metropolitan area. The Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center has established a specialized system for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of major critical diseases such as myocardial infarction, angina, stroke, and cerebral aneurysm. Meanwhile, the Robotic Artificial Joint Surgery Center has introduced a state-of-the-art robotic system for precision joint replacement surgeries, with nine orthopedic specialists providing customized care for patients.
The hospital is also actively contributing to the local community beyond providing medical services. Since its promotion, it has hired more than 450 new staff members, earning recognition as an “Excellent Employer” by the city of Busan. Through various talent development programs-including youth work experience initiatives, university-linked internships, and training for new employees-the hospital has expanded the foundation for the growth of the local medical workforce. In addition, it regularly operates the “Silver Health Academy” for seniors aged 65 and older and offers health lectures for citizens, strengthening the community’s capacity for health management.
At the ceremony, Chairman Park Jongho stated, “Over the past two years since our promotion, all departments have worked together to fill gaps in essential regional healthcare and to establish a patient safety-centered care system. We will continue to fulfill our responsibilities as a trusted medical institution in the region.”
He added, “Through the remodeling of the old main building, we plan to complete an integrated medical infrastructure with approximately 500 beds. We will proactively respond to the aging population and the increase in chronic diseases, further strengthening essential healthcare functions in the region.”
Centum General Hospital plans to further strengthen its role as a “general hospital prioritizing the health of local residents” by establishing new specialized centers such as a Cancer Center, Emergency Center, and Radiation Therapy Center, and by expanding integrated medical services that cover everything from diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation.
