Paju City and Korea Construction Appraisers Association Renovate Aging Senior Centers
Pro Bono Volunteer Work at Janggok 1-ri and Bongilcheon 5-ri Senior Centers
Wallpapering, Exterior Painting, and More for Facility Improvements
Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on December 9 that on December 6, the Korea Construction Appraisers Association carried out volunteer activities to improve the environment of aging facilities at the Janggok 1-ri and Bongilcheon 5-ri senior centers.
This volunteer initiative was launched to enhance the safety and comfort of senior centers, which serve as major gathering places for the elderly, following a business agreement signed between Paju City and the Korea Construction Appraisers Association in August.
The two senior centers targeted for environmental improvements had long faced complaints over user inconvenience due to issues such as wallpaper contamination from aging facilities, exterior wall cracks, and peeling paint. The Korea Construction Appraisers Association contributed its expertise by dispatching professionals in construction, facility maintenance, and painting to carry out tasks such as wallpapering, exterior wall painting, rooftop waterproofing, and replacement of sinks, LED lights, and ventilation fans. All repair work, both interior and exterior, was provided as a pro bono service.
Woo Eunjeong, Director of the Senior and Disabled Services Division, stated, "Through this project, our seniors can now enjoy leisure and relaxation in a safer and more comfortable environment," adding, "We will continue to expand cooperation with private professional organizations, including the Korea Construction Appraisers Association, to steadily promote environmental improvements for aging senior centers."

The volunteer team from the Korea Construction Appraisers Association commented, "We participated in this volunteer work as a small token of appreciation for the seniors who have contributed to the development of Paju over many years," and added, "We will continue to support the creation of a warm local community in Paju through social contribution activities that leverage our expertise."
