Kiwoom First Overall Pick Park Junhyun Has School Violence Ruling Overturned... Acts of School Violence Recognized
Cheonan Office of Education's Decision Overturned... Written Apology Ordered
Potential for Administrative Lawsuit if Park Junhyun or Student A Appeals
This year, Park Junhyun, a pitcher from Cheonan Bukil High School who was selected as the overall first pick by the Kiwoom Heroes in the KBO Rookie Draft, has had the previous decision of "not school violence" regarding his school bullying controversy overturned by the Administrative Appeals Committee.

Accordingly, the committee issued the first disciplinary measure for school violence, an order for a written apology, to Park Junhyun.
The committee determined that Park Junhyun's use of abusive language and other actions toward his fellow baseball team member, Student A, at the same school could be considered acts of school violence capable of causing psychological harm.
Previously, in May, Student A reported Park Junhyun as a perpetrator of school violence, claiming to have suffered prolonged bullying and ostracism. At that time, the School Violence Countermeasures Committee of the Cheonan Office of Education had ruled that Park Junhyun was "not involved in school violence."
Park Junhyun is the son of Park Seokmin, a well-known baseball player and the second-team hitting coach for the Samsung Lions. Ahead of the rookie draft, when allegations of school bullying surfaced, Park submitted both a pledge stating he had no involvement in school violence and his student record when applying for the draft.
After being selected, Park Junhyun commented on the school violence allegations, saying, "I didn't pay much attention because I have nothing to hide," and added, "Baseball is important, but I want to be a player whose character comes first."
