Daejeon City to Open Sikjangsan Station on Metro Line 1 in June 2027

Walking Time to Sikjangsan Samgeori Reduced from 47 Minutes to 7 Minutes
The groundbreaking ceremony for Sikjangsan Station, which will be newly constructed as an above-ground station utilizing the train holding line within the Panam Train Depot at Panam Station-the final terminus of Daejeon Metro Line 1-has taken place.
On December 2, Daejeon City held the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Sikjangsan Station at the Panam Train Depot in Dong-gu, signaling the start of building a landmark station.
Sikjangsan Station is the first above-ground station to be newly constructed in 17 years since the full opening of Daejeon Metro Line 1 in 2007. It holds significant meaning for improving transportation convenience for citizens and promoting regional development.
This project utilizes the train holding line within the Panam Train Depot. It is considered the most efficient construction method, enabling benefits to be delivered to citizens quickly. The total project cost is 19.8 billion won, with the goal of opening in June 2027.
Currently, it takes about 47 minutes on foot to travel the approximately 2.9 kilometers from Panam Station to Sikjangsan Samgeori. However, once Sikjangsan Station is established, the distance will be shortened to 450 meters, and travel time will be drastically reduced to around 7 minutes.
In addition, accessibility will be greatly improved, as it will become possible to travel from Bansuk Station to Sikjangsan Station by subway in under 45 minutes.
