This project adopted the "Devising Theatre" method. Devising Theatre is a collaborative creative approach in which all team members participate in every stage of production, creating an original work through various processes rather than following a single method.
The production team interviewed residents who live or engage in commercial or labor activities in Seongsu-dong, and based on these interviews, developed the themes and scenes of the performance.
Through this collaborative creative process, "Not a Pop-up" was completed and performed a total of three times over two days, on November 26 and 27, at the Survival Hall on the first floor of PUBG Seongsu in Seongsu-dong.
Before and after the performance, a pop-up experience zone was operated, featuring merchants who actually run cafes, accessory shops, handmade shoe stores, and perfume workshops in Seongsu-dong.
Kim Seokyun, professor of the Department of Theater and Film at Hanyang University and supervising professor, said, "It was not easy to incorporate all the keywords-community-based, collaborative creation, field-linked, and citizen theater-into one work, but thanks to the team's efforts, we were able to complete a new type of production in collaboration with local merchants."
