A dedicated team of 11 staff members, including 10 visiting nurses from Hanam City Health Center, will regularly visit each household to check basic health indicators such as blood pressure and blood sugar, and provide guidance on how to act during cold waves and how to manage chronic diseases.
In addition, to help vulnerable groups better manage their own health, the city will distribute winter supplies and leaflets with cold wave health guidelines. Last year, more than 4,600 items such as fleece socks, hot packs, and gloves were provided, and this year, additional supplies such as knee blankets will be offered. The health center has also established an emergency contact network with family members and neighbors of the recipients to ensure a prompt response in case of emergencies.
Hanam City will also strengthen its collaboration with the health and welfare sectors. By working with the senior care system, local administrative welfare centers, and the Social Welfare Council, the city will monitor households that are vulnerable to heating issues or at risk of isolation, and connect them with community resources such as winter blankets and heating supplies if needed. The city also plans to provide information on 191 cold wave shelters, as well as emergency and cold wave evacuation centers, to ensure that residents have a safe place to stay during crisis situations.
