Busan Institute and Gyeonggi Research Institute Join Forces to Tackle Population Crisis... Policy Cooperation MOU
The Population Strategy Research Center of the Busan Institute and the Population Impact Assessment Center of the Gyeonggi Research Institute are establishing a collaborative system to overcome the population crisis and develop strategies for regional community development.
On November 28, the two institutions signed a policy cooperation business agreement at the 2025 Korean Population Association Fall Academic Conference, which was held at the University of Seoul.
This agreement, signed during an academic conference themed "Future Society and Population Outlook," carries added significance. With population decline and the risk of regional extinction emerging as nationwide challenges, both institutions plan to pool their research capabilities and policy experience to jointly develop effective population policy models.
The agreement includes mutual support for local government population impact assessment projects, the exchange of human and material resources to strengthen research synergy, sharing of academic materials, and the joint hosting of seminars and forums. Through these efforts, the institutions aim to expand governance for population policy research and enhance the policy implementation capabilities of local governments.
The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Sehyun, Director of the Population Strategy Research Center at the Busan Institute, Yoo Jeonggyun, Director of the Population Impact Assessment Center at the Gyeonggi Research Institute, and other representatives from both organizations.
