Mercedes-Benz Launches "The New Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance"
Top Model of the Second-Generation GT: Plug-in Hybrid
Fastest 0-100 km/h Acceleration Among All AMG Cars at 2.8 Seconds
Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 28th that it will launch "The New Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance," the most powerful model of the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT lineup.
The "Mercedes-AMG GT" is a vehicle that combines the essence of sports car performance with a stylish design. Following the "GT 55 4MATIC+" released in May, the company is now introducing the high-performance plug-in hybrid model, "GT 63 S E Performance."
The "GT 63 S E Performance" delivers an overwhelming driving experience with innovative hybrid technology inspired by the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team.
Equipped with AMG's "One Man, One Engine" 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, an AMG high-performance battery based on Formula 1 technology, and an electric motor, the P3 hybrid system achieves the highest performance among the second-generation GT models, boasting a maximum system output of 816 hp and a peak torque of 1,420 Nm. The car accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating AMG production vehicle to date, with a top speed of 320 km/h.
The electric drive unit, which delivers 150 kW (204 hp), integrates an electric motor and a mechanical rear axle limited-slip differential. Independently mounted on the rear axle, it provides immediate power to the rear wheels and optimizes weight distribution, laying the foundation for outstanding driving performance.
The vehicle features an AMG high-performance battery equipped with a new direct cooling system based on racing car technology. The lithium-ion battery system, which individually cools 560 cells, maintains high performance even during continuous use, further enhancing the car's overall capabilities.
Additionally, the AMG Active Ride Control suspension comes standard, reducing body roll for a comfortable ride and enabling precise steering during cornering. The rear axle steering, which allows up to 2.5° of steering angle, is also standard, contributing to agile and stable handling.
The car boasts a long hood, pronounced power domes, and a robust, well-balanced silhouette, complemented by visual cues that highlight its high-performance hybrid identity. The model name is accentuated in red, and the "E Performance" badge on the side stands out, while trapezoidal twin tailpipes are positioned at the lower rear. The vehicle comes standard with 21-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels from the Manufaktur line, adding to its sporty appeal.
The AMG Aerodynamics Package, which includes a fixed rear spoiler wing in glossy black and aerodynamic elements such as flicks on the front and rear bumpers, is standard, further enhancing its sporty impression and increasing front and rear downforce. The front axle lift system allows the front end to be raised by up to 30 mm when needed, helping to prevent damage to the front bumper when navigating speed bumps or steep underground parking entrances.
The interior features foldable 2+2 seating and a trunk space expandable up to 562 liters, offering excellent space efficiency for daily use. The AMG Performance seats provide outstanding support even during dynamic driving, thanks to pronounced side bolsters and integrated headrests. In addition, the Energizing Package and Multicontour Seat Package ensure exceptional comfort on long journeys.
The vehicle is equipped with AMG Track Pace, which records and analyzes speed, steering angle, acceleration, and braking to help drivers improve their track skills, as well as the Driving Assistance Package to enhance driver convenience. Other standard features favored by Korean customers include the AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather, panoramic roof, head-up display, Burmester surround sound system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The third-generation MBUX system allows users to enjoy a wide range of domestic and international third-party applications such as YouTube, Disney+, Spotify, Webex, Zoom, as well as Essential, Flo, Wave, and Melon, all accessible via in-vehicle data. The system also features "Tmap Auto," custom-designed for the third-generation MBUX infotainment system, enabling integration with the head-up display and augmented reality navigation.
