Busan Office of Education to Focus on Special Education Support... 2.35 Billion Won from Education Development Special Zone Incentives Invested
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) will allocate 2.35 billion won out of the 3 billion won in incentives secured from the Education Development Special Zone pilot area performance evaluation to support students in special education and to promote inclusive education projects.
This investment accounts for approximately 78% of the total project budget, reflecting the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education’s commitment to intensively supporting the field of special education.
In October, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education received the highest rating, Grade A, in the “2024 Education Development Special Zone Pilot Area Performance Evaluation” conducted by the Ministry of Education, thereby securing an additional 3 billion won in project funding.
In response to the recent increase in the number of students requiring special education and the diversification of disability types, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to: ▲ strengthen teaching and learning support and consulting to create conditions for inclusive education ▲ establish new special classes and improve customized educational environments ▲ build IoT smart classrooms tailored to different types of disabilities ▲ create barrier-free indoor and outdoor environments ▲ remodel special activity rooms and expand educational equipment at special schools.
In addition, 150 million won will be allocated to the “Reading Culture Promotion Project” to strengthen character education, and 500 million won will be invested in the “Children’s Future Playground Project,” a hands-on, play-centered complex space organized by Busan City, to further diversify student support.
