FSS Holds Security Enhancement Meeting for GAs with FSI
Fourteen Large GAs Join the Financial Security Institute as Members
The Financial Supervisory Service announced on November 27 that it held a "Security Enhancement Meeting for Large Corporate Insurance Agencies (GA)" in collaboration with the Financial Security Institute.
The Financial Supervisory Service and the Financial Security Institute promoted the membership of large-scale GAs in the Financial Security Institute as part of their response to recent GA security breaches and personal (credit) information leakage incidents. At this meeting, representatives from 14 GAs, which joined the Financial Security Institute as members on November 21, attended to share requests, difficulties, and suggestions.
Lee Sehoon, Senior Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, emphasized that it is time to improve the overall security standards and awareness within the GA industry. He also stated that security-related areas will be evaluated more thoroughly and with greater weight during next year's "Assessment of Internal Controls at Large GAs." The Financial Supervisory Service plans to respond strictly to security incidents caused by insufficient basic preventive measures. For large-scale GAs, which can have significant ripple effects in the event of an incident, enhanced management will be implemented. The agency also plans to strengthen security through cooperation between consignors (insurance companies) and trustees (GAs).
The Financial Security Institute will support the practical enhancement of GA security capabilities by applying security monitoring technologies and providing capacity-building training. It also plans to promptly conduct information security consulting for the newly joined GAs to identify and address security vulnerabilities.
