Korea Federation of Micro Enterprises "Welcomes National Tax Credit Card Fee Rate Reduction"
Reduced to 0.7% Starting December 2
Value-Added Tax and Comprehensive Income Tax Fees Also Lowered to 0.4%
The small business sector has expressed its support for the National Tax Service's decision to lower the national tax credit card fee rate.
On November 27, the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprises issued an official statement, saying, "At a meeting with National Tax Service Commissioner Lim Gwanghyun last August, we made this request, and Commissioner Lim has now decided to fully accept it," adding, "This is an exemplary case of proactive administration."
According to the government, starting December 2, the credit card fee rate for paying national taxes by card will be reduced from the current 0.8% to 0.7%. It is estimated that this will reduce total fees by approximately 16 billion won. In addition, for small business owners, the fee for paying value-added tax and comprehensive income tax by credit card will be reduced by 50%, from 0.8% to 0.4%.
The federation stated, "Individual business owners, who already face a heavy tax burden from value-added tax and comprehensive income tax, have mainly paid their national taxes by card, and there have been many complaints about the high fee rates. In these difficult times for small business owners, this decision is a rational and compassionate example of tax administration."
