Forestella Cho Minkyu Fan Cafe Donates Scholarship to Gangwon Talent Institute
Fan Cafe and Anonymous Fan Donate 5,719,000 Won
Gangwon Talent Institute (President Kim Hakcheol) announced on November 26 that the official fan cafe (Strategy Planning Office) of tenor Cho Minkyu, a graduate of Gangwon Future Talent, and an anonymous fan have donated a total of 5,719,000 won in scholarships.
This donation was made in celebration of Cho Minkyu's birthday (November 19), who is the leader of the crossover male quartet group Forestella.
Cho Minkyu, who hails from Taebaek in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, was selected as a Gangwon Future Talent in 2009 and received scholarships for seven years. In 2017, he won first place in "Phantom Singer Season 2," which marked the beginning of his career as the leader of Forestella, and he has since remained active in the music industry.
Notably, in March 2025, he successfully held his solo concert "Monodrama 2025" in Seoul, solidifying his position as a solo artist. All tickets for every show sold out within just five minutes of opening, demonstrating the passionate support of his fans.
For this donation, the fan cafe "Strategy Planning Office" contributed 4.6 million won, while the anonymous fan donated 1,119,000 won. Since 2022, the total cumulative amount donated by Cho Minkyu's fans each year has reached an impressive 16 million won.
The fan cafe "Strategy Planning Office" stated, "The reason Cho Minkyu was able to pursue his dream in music was thanks to the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Future Talent Scholarship. We decided to donate to Gangwon Talent Institute to support the development of local talents, reflecting his affection for his hometown." The anonymous fan also commented, "It is meaningful to be able to support local vocal talents who can have a positive influence on many people, just like Minkyu."
