Yangju City's SNS character 'Byeolsan' was honored with the Grand Prize after receiving high scores in four evaluation categories-creativity, popularity, industrial potential, and global potential-through a fair review conducted by a panel of professional judges composed of industry and academic experts.
Byeolsan was created in 2022 as Yangju City's SNS character. The name carries a dual meaning, referencing both the National Intangible Cultural Heritage 'Yangju Byeolsandae Nori' and the beautiful stars and mountains of Yangju, and was designed to promote the city in a friendly manner.
This year, a variety of events involving citizens-such as the 1st Yangju National High School Chef Competition, Byeolsan Run (running event), and Byeolsan Hiking (at Bulgoksan Mountain)-have showcased the charm of Yangju. These activities have also proven Byeolsan's popularity, with the Yangju Byeolsan YouTube channel recently reaching 80,000 subscribers.
