First Lady Kim Visits Anatolian Civilizations Museum: "Importance of Cultural Heritage Preservation Cooperation Between Two Countries"
Anatolian Civilizations Museum Expresses Hopes for Expanded Collaboration with the National Museum of Korea
On November 24 (local time), Kim Hye-kyung, who is visiting T?rkiye with President Lee Jaemyung, visited the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara.
The Anatolian Civilizations Museum is a key national museum that has preserved and exhibited artifacts from across T?rkiye for over 100 years since its opening in 1921. As a leading archaeological museum in T?rkiye, it houses approximately 190,000 valuable relics, including the Mother Goddess statue from ?atalh?y?k, a gold-adorned dagger, and a Hittite sun disk.
Guided by an archaeologist from the museum, Kim expressed, "I was deeply impressed by the fact that T?rkiye is a region that marked a turning point in the development of human civilization, and I am struck by how well it has preserved this heritage," emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the two countries in preserving cultural heritage.
Since the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cultural heritage and museums in 2013, the two countries have continued various forms of cooperation, including cultural heritage research, academic exchanges, and special exhibitions. Kim stated, "Korea and T?rkiye share the commonality of having safeguarded their national identity and historical roots through cultural heritage," and expressed her hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity for the two countries to work even more closely together in the fields of culture and museums.

The Anatolian Civilizations Museum expressed gratitude for Kim's visit, presented her with a souvenir, and shared hopes for expanded exchanges with the National Museum of Korea. In response, Kim mentioned that she had prepared MU:DS, a souvenir from the National Museum of Korea that has recently gained worldwide popularity, and added, "I look forward to even greater cooperation between our museums in joint exhibitions, academic research, and preservation."
