Startups Hold Investment Presentations for TIPS Operators
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on November 25 that it held the 'Daegyeong Region Welcome to TIPS' event at the Daegu Center for Creative Economy & Innovation.
TIPS is a public-private partnership startup support system in which private operators leverage their expertise and capabilities to select and invest in startups, and the government then provides linked support for research and development (R&D) and business commercialization funds. To date, more than 3,700 startups have participated in the program, attracting over 17 trillion won in follow-up investments and establishing TIPS as a leading startup support program.
This event brought together over 100 promising technology startups from the Daegu and North Gyeongsang regions, as well as TIPS operating companies, to facilitate direct networking. It was organized to expand investment opportunities, which have been concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area, to regional areas.
On this day, promising startups from the Daegu and North Gyeongsang regions held investment presentations for TIPS operating companies, and outstanding companies selected through on-site evaluations were awarded prizes. The companies selected as outstanding at this event will join other top companies chosen from the Southeast, Chungcheong, and Honam regions to compete in the integrated finals at the end of the year, where they will once again present to investors from across the country.
In addition, various networking programs were held, including presentations by TIPS operators introducing their main investment areas and strategies, networking sessions between startups hoping to participate in TIPS and operating companies for investment attraction, and mentoring sessions by previous TIPS program participants.

Cho Kyungwon, Director of Startup Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, "I hope that meetings with TIPS operating companies have served as a stepping stone for even greater growth for startups in the Daegu and North Gyeongsang regions," adding, "We will further expand opportunities for regional startups to participate in TIPS through regional 'Welcome to TIPS' events and similar initiatives."
