According to Yonhap News Agency on November 24, the Guro Police Station in Seoul detained a Chinese man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, the previous day on charges of carrying a weapon in a public place. After questioning him, police applied for a warrant on the same day. Mr. A was arrested at the scene at approximately 2:20 p.m. the previous day for allegedly instilling anxiety and fear among citizens by walking around the streets of Guro-dong with a weapon.
During police questioning, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I was drunk and do not remember the incident well." A police official said, "We have applied for a detention warrant, taking into account the seriousness of the crime and the risk of repeat offenses." If the prosecution requests the warrant, a court hearing to review Mr. A's detention is scheduled to take place on November 25.
