The proposed project involves using leachate generated by local waste companies as dilution water in the organic waste (food waste) biogas facility currently under construction at Ecotown. Leachate refers to wastewater produced during the processing of food waste.
The city expects that utilizing leachate will generate approximately 700 million won in annual revenue.
Yongin Ecotown is a project in Pogok-eup, Cheoin-gu, that involves moving the sewage treatment facilities of Yongin Respia underground and constructing sports and park facilities above ground. The facility is scheduled for completion in June next year, and leachate from local waste companies will be utilized starting in 2027.
The city plans to finalize the reflection of operating net profit and revenue sharing through amendments to the implementation agreement, following further discussions between the relevant departments and the project operator.
