The "Secondary Battery Opportunity Development Zone" in Buyeo County, South Chungcheong Province, has been selected as one of Korea's top 100 promising regional investment projects, officially recognizing it as a new growth model capable of creating advanced industries and quality jobs even in rural areas.
On November 21, Buyeo County announced that it had attended the "Certificate Award Ceremony for Korea’s Top 100 Promising Regional Investment Projects," which was held during the "2025 Innovation Growth Forum" at the Crystal Ballroom of Lotte Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, on November 20.
The Buyeo Secondary Battery Opportunity Development Zone, designated in November 2024, encompasses the Buyeo General Industrial Complex in Jeongdong-ri and Mujung-ri, Hongsan-myeon, as well as the Eunsan 2nd Industrial Complex in Gajung-ri, Eunsan-myeon.
The total area covers approximately 516,614 square meters (about 156,000 pyeong), and around 106.1 billion won will be invested in the Buyeo General Industrial Complex.
The county aims to foster this zone as a hub for processing and supplying secondary battery parts and materials.
The county is establishing a policy foundation to provide a package of support measures, including regulatory easing, tax reductions, expedited permitting, as well as local investment promotion subsidies from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and county-level site, facility, and employment subsidies.

Park Junghyun, the county governor, stated, "This selection is external recognition that rural areas can also become platforms for advanced industries and quality jobs. We will accelerate preparations for the zone designation and investment incentive packages so that Buyeo can emerge as a key hub in the metropolitan secondary battery belt connecting the Chungcheong region, the west coast, and the Honam region."
