The event served as a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the foundation for sustainable resident autonomy and to promote exchange and cooperation among committee members.
The first part of the workshop featured a special lecture by announcer Lee Geumhee, who joined KBS as a 16th class announcer in 1989 and has continued her broadcasting career to this day. Under the theme "With a Single Word, We...", Lee introduced the power of warm language and empathetic communication techniques, emphasizing that "a culture of dialogue based on mutual respect and cooperation is the core value of resident autonomy," which was met with enthusiastic response.
During the second part, the opening ceremony, there was an awards presentation honoring outstanding resident autonomy committee members who contributed to the revitalization of resident autonomy. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of local autonomy, a special program was also held to reflect on the history of resident autonomy.
In particular, a documentary video titled "Back Then, Now Us," which captured the changes from the opening of Gwangju’s first Resident Autonomy Center in 2001 to the present, resonated deeply with attendees.
The celebratory performance featured singer Oh Seungha, a recognized performer of Gyeonggi folk songs, which are a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, and a participant in "Miss Trot 3" and "The Nation of Trot." Her performance enlivened the atmosphere and received great applause from the audience.
Lee Seoyong, President of the Gwangju Resident Autonomy Council, stated, "I deeply thank all committee members for their dedication to the development of resident autonomy in this meaningful year marking the 30th anniversary of local autonomy. I hope today's workshop was a valuable time to share achievements through communication and harmony."
