Gangdong District received high marks for strategically applying color to the urban landscape under the theme “City Brand Built with Mint Color,” which elevated public value.
Cheonho Bicycle Street was well known among cyclists but remained relatively unfamiliar to the general public. In response, after being selected for the “2023 Seoul Local Brand Commercial District Enhancement Project,” the district launched an initiative to reinforce the street’s brand identity and revitalize the commercial area by incorporating distinctive color and landscape features.
The district, in collaboration with the Cheonho Bicycle Street Commercial District Council, selected a refreshing mint color as the hue that best represents the street’s symbolism. Centered around this color, they consistently applied mint tones to utility pole improvements, specialized bicycle lane designs, upgraded signage, and the development of Riding Challenge content, thereby achieving visual unity across the urban space.
The mint color was not only used on Cheonho Bicycle Street but also applied to the exterior of the Gangdong Bicycle Integrated Support Center. The district plans to further expand the use of this color to bicycle signage at key waterfront locations along Godeokcheon, aiming to extend the “bicycle-friendly city Gangdong” brand image throughout the entire district.
