Muan County Releases Names of 57 Major and Habitual Tax Delinquents
Total Arrears Reach 1.9 Billion Won
Strong Enforcement Measures to Uphold Tax Justice
Muan County in South Jeolla Province announced on November 19 that it has released the names of 57 individuals and entities with large and habitual local tax delinquencies on the county's website and the Jeollanam-do provincial website. The list includes 53 previously disclosed delinquents and 4 newly added names, with the total amount in arrears reaching 1.9 billion won.
The disclosure targets those who, as of January 1 this year, have been delinquent for over one year on local taxes with outstanding amounts of at least 10 million won. The information made public includes the name, age, occupation, address, amount in arrears, and main tax items. However, those who have paid more than half of their overdue taxes or whose appeals are still in process are excluded from the list.
Among this year's disclosed delinquents, the corporation with the largest amount in arrears is a real estate company, referred to as Corporation Y, which owes 200 million won in property taxes (land) and other taxes. The individual with the highest delinquency is a resident of Muan-eup, referred to as Mr. A, who owes 72 million won in local income taxes (capital gains) and other taxes.
The county continues to enforce strong administrative sanctions against large and habitual delinquents, including asset seizures, public auctions, name disclosure, travel bans, provision of credit information, and restrictions on licensed businesses.
