Yangpyeong County Named Top Local Government in Gyeonggi's 'Clean Gyeonggi Initiative'...Proving Leadership in Resource Circulation
Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jinseon) has been selected as the top local government in this year’s Gyeonggi Province ‘2025 Clean Gyeonggi City and County Evaluation.’ The county received the top award in Group C at the best practices presentation held at Gyeonggi-do Sangsang Campus on October 15, and was again named the best city/county in the final results announced in November, which included quantitative evaluation.
Since 2019, Gyeonggi Province has annually evaluated 31 cities and counties within the province by dividing them into three groups based on population size. The selection of outstanding local governments is determined by combining qualitative evaluations, such as best practices presentations, with quantitative assessments based on 11 indicators.
Yangpyeong County received the highest qualitative evaluation score for its presentation titled "The Revolution of Reusable Containers, Led by Yangpyeong County." The county also received high marks across various quantitative indicators, including participation in the "Gyeonggi Without Single-Use Products" initiative, separate collection of transparent PET bottles in detached houses, performance in reducing waste generation and promoting education to prevent illegal activities, and maintenance and management of key waste disposal facilities.
This top award once again proves that Yangpyeong County’s resource circulation policies have achieved outstanding results within the province. It is particularly meaningful as it highlights the county’s significant role in improving residents’ living environments by reducing household waste and establishing a sustainable resource circulation society.
With this award, the county will receive a project grant of 40 million won, which will be used for initiatives in the resource circulation sector, such as reducing household waste generation, improving recycling rates, and raising awareness about household waste disposal.
