Spreading a Culture of Child Safety Through Community Collaboration
The Gumi Office of Education in North Gyeongsang Province (Superintendent Min Byungdo) held the "Child Abduction Prevention Campaign" on November 14 to reaffirm the importance of preventing crimes against children and to promote a safe commuting culture through collaboration among schools, families, and related organizations.
This campaign took place at the main gate and surrounding school routes of Gumi Sagok Elementary School from 7:50 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Participants included representatives from the school and the Office of Education, as well as Gumi City Hall, Gumi Police Station, the Gumi Student Safety Volunteer Association, and the Gumi Green Mothers' Association, all working together in cooperation.

The main activities included promoting the child protection system and child safety rules, conducting on-site inspections of potential hazards on school routes, providing safety guidance and distributing promotional materials, and offering instructions on how children can prevent abduction and luring attempts.
Min Byungdo, Superintendent of the Gumi Office of Education, stated, "The safety of children is a promise we all share, and even a small amount of attention is the first step in preventing major accidents." He added, "The school and the local community will join forces to create an environment where children can go to school safely and with a smile."
