Despite the excellent panoramic views from the summit, there had been ongoing calls for improvements to the aging facilities and the lack of rest areas around Train Rock.

As a result, the area around Train Rock has been improved into a space that combines safety, relaxation, and scenic views, creating a forest recreation environment where hikers can stay more safely and comfortably.
Mayor Kim Donggeun stated, "Train Rock is a landmark of Suraksan Mountain and a signature viewpoint of Uijeongbu. With the construction of the new observatory and rest areas, citizens and hikers can now enjoy rest and scenery in a safer and more pleasant environment. We will continue to expand forest recreation infrastructure to make Uijeongbu a city where people want to walk and stay."
