View original imageThis project is a road expansion and paving initiative aimed at providing a new solution to alleviate traffic congestion in the Maesan and Yangbeol-dong areas, following the replacement of the existing four-section ring road (Chuja to Maesan) with the privately funded Uiwang-Gwangju Expressway.
The project will invest a total of 26.5 billion won to expand and pave approximately 940 meters from Opo Intersection to Yangchon Intersection into a four-lane road in both directions and install new sidewalks.
In particular, the project includes demolishing the existing Opo Bridge structure within the section and rebuilding it, which is expected to enhance both traffic safety and structural integrity.
Once the new road is completed, it will form a comprehensive road network by connecting with the 'Yeokdong to Yangbeol (Jungno 1-14 Line)', which was expanded to four lanes and opened this year, and the 'Jangji to Maesan (Jungno 1-15 Line)', which opened in 2022, extending all the way to the 'Opo Bridge to Yangchon Intersection (Jungno 1-16 Line)'. This is expected to significantly improve traffic flow in the Opo area and enhance access to nearby expressways such as Sejong-Pocheon by linking with National Routes 43 and 45.
During the resident briefing session, a variety of opinions were presented through a Q&A session. The city plans to actively incorporate the suggestions made by residents into the design and construction phases, aiming to minimize inconveniences caused by the construction, strengthen communication, and ensure smooth progress of the project.
