The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Korea Copyright Protection Agency and Interpol, will hold the International Forum on Copyright Protection Enforcement and the Interpol Global Conference on Digital Piracy for two days starting November 17 at Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
The event aims to share major cases of joint operations, provide training on tracking techniques for copyright infringement offenders, and strengthen the international cooperation system. It will facilitate knowledge sharing among law enforcement agencies and stakeholders from various countries and establish a network of experts.
More than 170 participants will attend, including representatives from the World Intellectual Property Organization, the European Union Intellectual Property Office, law enforcement agencies from 17 countries such as the United States, Vietnam, Bulgaria, Spain, Iraq, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, as well as officials from overseas content copyright associations and organizations, and private rights holders.
Since 2021, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been working with the National Police Agency and Interpol on an online copyright infringement response project, resulting in the arrest of multiple copyright offenders, including operators of NunuTV, OKtoon, Ajitun, and illegal IPTV services in Southeast Asia.
However, cases of illegal websites being operated overseas, outside the reach of domestic jurisdiction, continue to increase. In particular, illegal sites based on overseas servers distribute not only K-content but also content from North and South America, Europe, Asia, and other regions around the world in violation of copyright.

This meeting will serve as an important opportunity to share investigative experience and law enforcement techniques accumulated by each country and to solidify the international cooperation system."
The forum and conference will discuss the progress of international cooperation on global content infringement cases and the direction of joint operations. The events will raise awareness that digital piracy is a transnational threat and emphasize the importance of tracking information and the current status of rights holder infringements, including those of private copyright associations, organizations, and content providers, in law enforcement activities.
