Busan Port Authority Sees Strong Results from Joint Investment R&D Projects with SMEs
Win-Win Cooperation R&D Project Wins Minister of SMEs and Startups Award
71 Billion Won Invested in Joint Research with SMEs Since 2019
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sangkeun) is seeing the results of a joint investment-based research and development project carried out in collaboration with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
On November 13, the authority announced that it had received a commendation from the Minister of SMEs and Startups at the "2025 Purchase-Linked and Win-Win Cooperation R&D Project Awards Ceremony" held at COEX in Seoul on November 11.
Busan Port Authority explained that it was recognized in the joint investment (win-win cooperation) category, which evaluates the achievements of research and development projects based on cooperative partnerships with SMEs.
Since 2019, the authority has invested 7.1 billion won over six years to enhance the technological competitiveness of SMEs in the shipping and port sector, promoting 17 joint investment-type R&D projects with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority, stated, "Although SMEs in the shipping and port sector possess excellent technological capabilities, they face significant challenges in product sales and securing distribution channels after developing new technologies. We will continue to expand joint investment-type technology development support programs so that public institutions and SMEs can grow together, and we will work to strengthen the competitiveness of Busan Port."
