KMI Publishes "Fishing Village Atlas" to Present Policy Research Achievements in a Way That Resonates with the Public
The Fishing Village Research Division of the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), led by President Cho Jeonghee, has published a casebook titled "Fishing Village Atlas" (Korean/English), presenting policy research achievements in a way that resonates with the general public.
This is part of a field-oriented research project designed to bridge the gap between research institutions and real-world sites.
The newly released "Fishing Village Atlas" consists of 15 case studies covering a wide range of topics, including industry, culture, population, and community revitalization in fishing villages across the country.
It features local challenges and innovative cases such as "regional regeneration" in Yeondong Port, Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province; the "Fish Fortune Bus" in Yuldo, Mokpo, South Jeolla Province; and "AI Digital Twin" in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province.
KMI stated that through this publication, it has suggested policy directions for achieving sustainable fishing villages, even as these communities face realities such as population decline, aging, and changes in industrial structure.
"Fishing Village Atlas" will be distributed to participants of the "2025 World Fishing Village Conference," which will be held from November 9 to 12, and feature articles can be found on the Nongsuchuksan Newspaper website.
