Muju County Holds "Petiquette Campaign" at Firefly Market
Campaign to Run at Six Locations Until November 30
"Establishing a Mature Pet Ownership Culture"
On November 6, Muju County in North Jeolla Province held a "Petiquette Campaign" at the Firefly Market in Muju-eup, with the participation of about 20 relevant public officials and others.
According to the county, the campaign was organized to establish a mature pet ownership culture in the region and will be carried out until November 30 at six walking trails, markets, and densely populated residential areas across the county's towns and townships.
The campaign shares guidelines for pet owners, including mutual respect etiquette that both pet owners and non-pet owners should observe, compliance with animal registration and safety measures, and the collection of pet waste.
Pet owners must use a leash or harness (within 2 meters) and an identification tag when going out with their dogs, and owners of dogs aged two months or older are required to register their animals.
Additionally, pet owners must maintain a certain distance from others, collect pet waste, use carriers when using public transportation, and owners of dangerous dogs must use muzzles and obtain liability insurance.
The county plans to impose a fine of 200,000 won for not using a leash or harness or failing to register an animal, and a fine of 50,000 won for not using an identification tag or not collecting pet waste, in accordance with current laws.
