Uijeongbu City to Add More Buses to Route 1-8 on Weekends... Major Upgrade in Citizen Mobility Convenience
Uijeongbu City to Add More Buses Starting November 8
Weekend Intervals to Be Shortened by Up to 5 Minutes
Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Donggeun) announced that, starting from the first bus on November 8, one additional vehicle will be added to City Bus No. 1-8 on both Saturdays and public holidays to address the severe congestion caused by increased weekend ridership.
Route 1-8 is a major local line connecting Minrak and Gosan Districts with Cheonghak-ri and Nowon District Office. However, with a recent influx of weekend tourists to destinations such as Suraksan Mountain, Cheonmun Waterfall, and Heukseok Valley, congestion inside the buses has increased, leading to a series of related complaints.
In response, the city has conducted on-site surveys and analyzed operational data since July to closely examine weekend boarding patterns by time. As a result, they identified pronounced waiting and full-capacity situations at key stops such as Bureamsan Station and Bbaeppeol, prompting the decision to increase the number of buses.
With this increase, the interval between buses on weekends will be shortened by up to five minutes, and waiting times at major stops will be reduced, making weekend travel much more convenient for citizens.
