Kyowon Red Pen Launches 'Perfect Literacy' to Enhance Elementary Students' Literacy Skills
A 52-Week Comprehensive Program
Kyowon Red Pen announced on November 5 that it will launch the "Elementary Reading Project Perfect Literacy (Perfect Literacy)" program on November 6 to strengthen literacy skills.
Perfect Literacy was developed for pre-elementary and elementary students, as well as their parents, who recognize the increasing importance of literacy in the age of AI but face challenges in learning methods. In particular, the program classifies the elements necessary for improving literacy into three categories and enables students to continue learning through activities that train these skills.
Kyowon Red Pen defines the three essential literacy competencies as follows: "reading fluency," which refers to reading text quickly and accurately; "reading comprehension strategies," which involve identifying the main ideas and structure of a text; and "vocabulary," which refers to both the quantity and quality of words a student understands and can use. The content is structured to help students develop all three competencies in a balanced way. The program has also undergone systematic review by Lee Kyunghwa, Professor of Elementary Education at Korea National University of Education and chair of the National Korean Language Textbook Compilation Committee.
"Perfect Literacy" is a 52-week program consisting of an app, books, and weekly online one-on-one coaching sessions. The learning method involves studying twice a week, reading one book each week, and then using the app for further study. Students receive weekly one-on-one feedback from an online instructor on what they have learned. The effectiveness of the program can be checked through regular assessments every three months, and any weaknesses can be addressed through supplementary learning.
