Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) will co-host the 4th Hallym Science Concert with Chuncheon City (Mayor Yuk Donghan) at 2:00 p.m. on November 13 in the Hallym University International Conference Hall.
This event, held under the theme "HAPPY AI: Safe AI, Healthy AI," is organized by the Hallym University Institute for AI Convergence, the Institute for Medical and Bio Convergence, and the Chuncheon City Education City Division. It will provide an in-depth look at the future vision of the artificial intelligence (AI) era.
The 4th Hallym Science Concert is part of the Ministry of Education's "Glocal University 30" knowledge-sharing initiative. Co-hosted with Chuncheon City, the university plans to actively share its outstanding intellectual assets with the local community. Through lectures by the nation’s leading scholars, the event aims to stimulate scientific curiosity among all Chuncheon citizens and serve as a pivotal moment for the concert to become a signature science and culture event in the city.
Under the vision of "HAPPY AI," the concert will focus on two key pillars: the "safety" (Safe AI) and "health" (Healthy AI) of technology. Leading experts in Korea will gather to present technological and ethical roadmaps for AI to contribute to human happiness.
The first lecture, on "Safe AI," will be delivered by Kim Myoungjoo, the founding director of the Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute (AISI). Professor Kim, who teaches in the Department of Information Security at Seoul Women’s University, is a leading authority in AI ethics and trust, having served as president of the International Association for AI Ethics (IAAE) and head of the Center for Responsible AI. In her lecture titled "Sustainable AI Ecosystem," she will outline directions for the safe development of AI.
The second session, on "Healthy AI," will feature Shin Sooyong, head of the Advanced Research Lab at Kakao Healthcare, who will speak on "Personalized Medicine with AI." Having previously taught at the Samsung Advanced Institute for Health Sciences and Technology and now leading AI research at Kakao Healthcare, Dr. Shin will introduce concrete examples of how AI technology is revolutionizing individual health management.
Finally, Professor Yoo Jaeyong of Hallym University will deliver a lecture titled "Trustworthy AI: Partnering for Medical Innovation." This session will explore the conditions necessary for AI technology to gain the trust of patients and medical professionals and to achieve meaningful innovation in the medical field.
In addition to lectures by top scholars, the event will feature a variety of programs blending science and art. Notably, a special performance by the Chuncheon City Korean Traditional Music Orchestra is scheduled, offering participants both the intellectual pleasure and the deepening autumn atmosphere.
After all lectures, there will be a "Comprehensive Discussion and Q&A" session with all speakers, providing attendees with the opportunity to resolve their questions about the AI era and engage directly with the presenters.
Choi Yanghee, President of Hallym University, stated, "The 4th Hallym Science Concert, in collaboration with Chuncheon City, will demonstrate how AI technology can become a warm companion that makes the lives of all citizens safer and healthier, extending beyond the boundaries of the university. I hope this event will serve as a platform where the intellect of Hallym University meets the local community to create new value."
