Second Export of Gongju Chestnuts to Vietnam... First Entry of Organic Blueberries into Thailand
Gongju City Secures a Foothold in Southeast Asian Export Markets
Strengthening Local Distribution Networks and Packaging Design Competitiveness
Gongju City in South Chungcheong Province is accelerating efforts to expand overseas markets for its signature local agricultural products.
On November 4, the city announced that it had exported 3 tons of "Gongju Chestnuts" to Vietnam for the second time, and that "Gongju Organic Blueberries" had signed their first export contract with a Thai distributor.
The city, in cooperation with Sagok Nonghyup, exported 3 tons of Gongju Chestnuts through a local Vietnamese distributor. This marks the second shipment since the first export in December last year, with volumes gradually increasing as the product's quality and brand recognition gain traction in the local market.
The city has built a foundation of trust by dispatching market development teams to Vietnam and hosting on-site consultations with buyers. The fact that Vietnamese buyers visited local farms to verify quality also contributed to the realization of actual transactions.
In addition, Gongju Organic Blueberries have signed their first export contract with a Thai distributor, with an initial shipment of 2 tons to be exported.
Additional volume contracts are being pursued to coincide with next year’s production season. This achievement follows the strong consumer response at the "Gongju City Excellent Agricultural Food Promotion Fair" held in Thailand this past August.
Gongju City and the Gongju Culture and Tourism Foundation are also working to enhance product competitiveness by improving the export packaging design for the "Gomi Blueberry Association."
