TIGER US AI Power SMR ETF Newly Listed... Oklo and NuScale Power Receive Highest Weighting
Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on November 3 that it will newly list the 'TIGER US AI Power SMR' exchange-traded fund (ETF) on November 4.
On this day, Mirae Asset Global Investments held a TIGER US AI Power SMR webinar and analyzed that, due to the recent proliferation of generative AI, electricity demand from data centers is surging explosively.
Kim Namho, Head of Global ETF Management at Mirae Asset Global Investments, explained, "The electricity required for AI computation is expected to increase 3.5 times over the next five years," adding, "In the United States, supply is unable to keep up with demand due to aging transmission grids and delays in permitting."
He continued, "SMRs are drawing attention as an alternative to solve these structural limitations," and added, "SMRs are only one-hundredth the size of conventional nuclear power plants, have fewer site constraints, and can provide stable power 24 hours a day."
The US government has designated SMRs as a core part of its next-generation energy strategy. It is strengthening policy support, such as streamlining permits and providing tax benefits. The SMR market is projected to reach approximately $127.5 billion (about 182 trillion won) by 2035.
The TIGER US AI Power SMR ETF is composed of 10 companies that are the most direct beneficiaries of the expansion of US AI power infrastructure. It invests in SMR value chain companies such as NuScale Power, Oklo, GE Vernova, which manufactures gas turbines, and operators of power plants specializing in data centers.
