Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) announced on November 3 that, as part of the eighth popularly elected administration’s flagship pledge, the “Pocheoncheon Blueway Construction Project,” it has begun work on building a water play area at Pocheon Sports Complex and expanding the walking and bicycle paths as a priority.

View original imageThis construction aims to enhance pedestrian safety and convenience for relaxation, allowing citizens to enjoy the stream in comfort as part of their daily lives. At the Pocheon Sports Complex, a water play area and water features for families to use during the summer will be created, and in key walking sections along the Pocheoncheon, safe and pleasant waterfront walking and bicycle paths-separating pedestrians and cyclists-will be established by the first half of 2026.
Currently, expansion work is underway on the water play area at Pocheon Sports Complex, as well as on the walking and bicycle paths from Hu-pyeonggyo Bridge in Seondan-dong to the 15th Air Wing Willow Park. Starting with these sections, the construction areas will be gradually expanded in phases.
The Pocheoncheon Blueway Construction Project aims to create an “eco-friendly stream where citizens can walk and stay” by 2026, through the following: the water play area and multipurpose waterfront plaza at Pocheon Sports Complex, the ecological riverside garden at the 15th Air Wing, the Hasonguri riverside park, and the expansion and separation of walking and bicycle paths.
