The designated non-smoking taxi stands are located in front of Suyu Plaza (261 Dobong-ro), in front of Unsan Building (260 Dobong-ro), in front of Lotte Department Store Mia Branch (62 Dobong-ro), and in front of Lotte Mart Samyang Branch (247 Samyang-ro), totaling four locations.
This initiative is based on the revised “Ordinance on Creating a Non-Smoking Environment and Preventing Damage from Secondhand Smoke in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul,” which took effect on August 1. After a three-month period of public awareness and guidance, the district will begin full-scale enforcement starting November 10. Anyone caught smoking in these areas after enforcement begins will be fined 100,000 won.
Meanwhile, Gangbuk-gu is operating a smoking cessation clinic year-round to reduce the smoking rate and promote residents’ health. The smoking cessation clinic, located on the third floor of the district health center, offers a three-step customized program that supports participants from preparation to maintenance, including counseling, provision of aids, and nicotine dependence assessment. Participants who successfully quit smoking for six months after registration receive an incentive worth 50,000 won.
