Busan Northern Labor Office to Operate "Focused Inspection Week" ... "Preventing Falls at Small-Scale Construction Sites"
Twice-Monthly Thematic Inspections
Focus on "Fall Prevention" During the First Week of November
The Busan Northern Branch Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (headed by Min Gwangje) will operate a "Focused Inspection Week" twice a month to prevent industrial accidents at worksites and reduce serious accidents.
The "Focused Inspection Week" is a system in which a theme is set based on the characteristics and seasonal factors of industrial accidents, and intensive inspections are conducted nationwide for one week.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced at the "Serious Accident Reduction Situation Inspection Meeting" held on October 20 that, in response to the recent series of traditional serious accidents such as falls, collisions, and entrapments, all regional labor offices nationwide will operate the Focused Inspection Week until the end of the year.
The first session will be held from October 29 to November 4, under the theme of "Preventing Falls at Small-Scale Construction Sites."
This measure was taken in consideration of the continued occurrence of fall accidents at small-scale construction sites with a construction cost of less than 100 million won, despite the recent slowdown in the construction market.
The labor office will conduct unannounced inspections focusing on sites with a high risk of falls, such as roofs, scaffolding, and openings, to check the implementation of basic safety measures such as safety harnesses, guardrails, and work platforms. In addition, the office plans to carry out promotional and preventive activities in cooperation with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, private accident prevention organizations, and related associations.
Min Gwangje, head of the branch office, emphasized, "The risk does not decrease just because the construction site is small," and added, "Business owners and site managers must thoroughly check basic safety measures such as safety guardrails, work platforms, and protective equipment."
